A big Bulldog shoutout to teacher, Joe Horne, for being nominated for and receiving the Northwestern Energy Bright Surprise award! Joe was nominated by a community member, and here is the nomination that was submitted...congratulations and thank you, Mr. Horne, and thank you to all of our staff for the extra hard work and energy they give everyday during these challenging times! "I would like to nominate Joseph Horne for this award. At Townsend Schools, he is the Townsend Schools business education teacher, & director. Recognizing him comes from the students I have interacted with; I ask students 2 questions upon my encounters with them. What did you learn today, and later I will ask, Which teacher do you resonate with the most? Frequent answers are technology classes, and as well, Coach Horne. Coach Horne also serves as the Assistant Football Coach for Townsend Schools, and he creates and catalyzes community spirit through that role. On the field his players want to work for him, in the classroom his players are conditioned to work for Coach Horne as well. That effort and spirit is contagious to their peers, and creates a much stronger classroom synergy as well. Not only outside of the classroom does Coach Horne mentor the Football Team, he also functions as advisor to the “Business Professionals of America Club” and the Yearbook. Away from school Joe is Father to 2 great Middle / High School Scholars and Athletes, that without a doubt are his greatest achievements. Joe and his wife Natalie, a St. Peter’s Hospital Nurse, are one of the few Carroll College Couples inducted into the Carroll Alumni Hall of Fame. After much contemplation I feel that Coach Joseph Horne is Broadwater High School’s most fitting candidate for a recognition opportunity such as this one.

Townsend Schools is excited to announce that a local STOKE chapter is being started in Townsend! STOKE is a Montana-based youth skills empowerment organization that offers extracurricular activities in science, technology, outdoors, knowledge, and entrepreneurship for students grades 8-12. STUDENTS & PARENTS: There was a recent security update performed on Infinite Campus that may require you to verify your email. If you have been booted out of your app login, you need to log into IC from your Chromebook or another PC (another browser outside of your app) and follow the steps to verify your email. You should be able to log back into your app after that. If you need help, please contact the appropriate office at any time!

Due to another positive Covid-19 case in the 3rd grade, we have made the decision to move to a remote learning format with that group. Contact tracing has been completed and close contacts have been notified. Beginning Tuesday, November 10, all 3rd grade students will stay home and attend classes virtually through Google Classroom. At this time, at-school instruction for 3rd grade students is scheduled to resume on Thursday, November 19. Students who are on the Acellus program will continue with the program as scheduled.

On Monday afternoon, parents may contact the office to pick up your 5th grade student’s Chromebook. Beginning Tuesday, November 10, all fifth grade students will stay home and attend classes virtually through Google Classroom. At this time, at-school instruction for fifth grade students is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, November 17. Students who are on the Acellus program will continue with the program as scheduled.

Townsend Schools has been impacted by a confirmed positive Covid test of an elementary school teacher. We have worked with our County Health Department and health professionals, and parents have been contacted regarding potential exposure and given additional health monitoring recommendations. If you are contacted by the County Health Department or the school, we urge you to follow the recommendations provided. Please call or email the appropriate office or teachers with any questions you may have regarding your students’ schoolwork. We also urge all students, staff, and community members to continue the safety protocols that are already in place. Thank you, Townsend Schools Administration.

Attention Bulldog Fans: Here is the current spectator information for both of our post season events this week! Again, please remember that our athletes and coaches are extremely fortunate to be able to participate in any kind of season, let alone a postseason, and we are incredibly grateful for that! For both the Divisional VB tournament and FB quarterfinals game, spectators are limited and allowed by invite only. VB athletes are allowed 4 spectator spots per person and FB athletes are allowed 6. There are no open ticket sales at either event, you have to be on the approved spectator list to attend the games. Once again, thank you for your cooperation, and please continue to cheer them on from afar...GO BULLDOGS!!!

ATTENTION BULLDOGS FOOTBALL FANS!! We are excited and proud to be hosting a 1st round playoff football game this Sat., Oct. 31st, at 1:00PM...well done, Dawgs!! Because this is the postseason, all games have to follow the same covid spectator rules for equity, no matter what county the game is hosted in or what format was followed at those locations during the regular season. MHSA also has specific covid directives that have to be followed. For the playoff games, there will be NO open seating/entry for the general public. There will also be no bands or student sections at any site. Spectator passes are limited to 6 per participating athlete, which will mostly likely be used by immediate family (parents & siblings) and very limited extended family (grandparents). All preapproved spectators will have a pass to present at the entrance gate and will be on a list that will be used for admission to any postseason games our Bulldogs are playing in, at any location. Again, we are incredibly lucky to have a post season at all, and we appreciate your cooperation during these strange times. We do have approval to broadcast the game/s on NFHS and on KDGZ Radio, so tune in and cheer on our Bulldogs!!
