June 19th Press Release
Townsend Schools
Friday, June 19, 2020

Thank you for making our school bond campaign successful. We sincerely hope that all the citizens of our district come to consider this not only an investment in our youth, but an investment in our community. With the passing of the bond, the next phase of the project is set to begin. While the general footprint and budget was established prior to the bond election, much planning remains. Over the course of the next several months, the specific design and accompanying details will be determined. With the experienced guidance of our Owner’s Representative, our team is committed to completing this project on time and on budget.

A&E Architects has been working with the school during the pre-bond planning phase. They will continue with the project through all phases of the new elementary construction, as well as through the updates of the middle school and high school. A&E will help us facilitate meetings with stakeholders through the summer and into next school year. The tentative schedule includes the legally prescribed Request for Qualification and Request for Proposal procedures, culminating with the hiring of a general contractor in mid-July. Ideally, new construction would begin at the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

Townsend Schools is asking for the public to be a part of this process. Townsend Schools believes that the school system is a reflection of the community it serves. We need your input to help make this school a representation of the people and needs of Broadwater County. As we get into the summer months, we will have opportunities for our stakeholders to provide input on planning and design. Broadwater County residents will also have the opportunity to invest in the school bonds, which will be sold through D. A. Davidson. Please watch the Broadwater Reporter and the Townsend Schools social media pages for more specific information.

Townsend Schools is committed to building a school that provides a safe and healthy environment, while still being cost-effective, practical, and durable.  We need your help to make this happen. We look forward to working with the Townsend Schools community.
