Back by popular demand, this writing class has been offered intermittently through our Adult Education program by local writers Eileen Clarke and John Barsness for more than 15 years. The folks who joined that original class have become a very close-knit group and published 9 books among them! 

As Eileen and John like to say: same old teachers but open to new writers looking to hone their craft in a safe place to share and improve. 

3rd Wednesday of each month 6-8 p.m. starting April 19

Fee: $25 every 3 months

Eileen and John know of what they teach . . . Eileen had a game cooking column with Field & Stream and Successful Hunter for years, and has written about hunting and optics for the NRA magazines, Gray’s Sporting Journal and others. John just retired from Rifle and Handloader magazines after 30 years of being a contributing editor. He is still rifle columnist and feature writer for Sports Afield magazine. For the last decade Eileen has written wild game cook books while John wrote hunting and firearms books which Eileen edited, set up in a publishing program, and sold on their website.

Book Club

Be one of the first in our community to use a space dedicated to ceramics! You’ll learn about pottery as a form of art, types of clay and different ceramic forms, basics of forming and shaping clay, and foundational techniques in hand-building and wheel-working. You’ll have an opportunity to make functional art and prepare pieces for firing and glazing under the guidance of instructor Teddy Lewis. 

As a long-time potter and founding member of the new STOKE Clay Arts Guild, Teddy loves to share his knowledge and passion for this art form.

Dates: M-W-F April 10 through May 5 (4 weeks) 6-8 p.m.

A great opportunity to meet fellow readers, explore new or favorite authors, and learn from other perspectives! 

Participants will need to borrow or purchase the book and read it prior to each meeting. Our instructor, Kay Ingalls, has led this Book Club for more than 20 years and will assist participants in obtaining each month’s featured book.
