Townsend Schools is excited to announce that we are beginning to prepare for the early construction phases of the new elementary project! With that, there will be a few procedure/logistical changes for our elementary students. The first involves playground relocation, student drop-off in the morning, and bus relocation for pick up/drop-off. The playground is being temporarily relocated to the area between the home football bleachers and the new bus barn. Starting this Thursday afternoon, March 18th, the busses will be parking further north, on the same side of Pine St. to pick up students after school, and this will also be the new morning bus drop-off location from now on. Starting this Friday morning, March 19th, the procedure for students who are being dropped off by parents in front of the elementary will continue to be the same, but students will make their way to the new temporary playground by using the sidewalk between the high school and the elementary to the football field. There will be plenty of staff available to assist students with learning the new routines, and please keep in mind this is a very fluid project, and there will be many adjustments to come. We will keep you informed as best we can when procedure changes occur. We are incredibly excited to see this project finally underway!

At the special School Board meeting last night, the Board concluded to continue to strive to provide in-person education, while still protecting our students, staff, and families, by continuing to operate under the emergency Covid policies currently in place. The policies will be reviewed and updated as the vaccination process progresses and becomes more available to all. We truly appreciate the cooperation and support we have received thus far in all our efforts to safely remain open, and please help us by continuing to cooperate with our Covid requirements. A big Bulldog shoutout to all of the local businesses who generously donated items for our Thanksgiving Bulldog Bingo and our 12 Days Before Winter Break countdown! Our mission was to keep our staff's spirits lifted as we made our way to winter break and the end of a crazy year, and we couldn't have done it without you!! Whether guessing how many ornaments were in a jar, hunting for rubber Christmas ducks, deciding if they were naught or nice, or ugly sweatering, the staff had a blast and loved the prizes!! We are beyond grateful for our community and the love and support you show our school, staff, and students! Happy holidays, stay well, and shop local!! Thank You: Townsend Tire, Townsend Drug, Reading Leaves, Broadwater Blooms, Mountie Moose, Elkhorn Vet, Rocky Mountain Supply, Goosebay Glass, TK's Garage, Full Belli Deli, Old Baldy Auto Parts, Napa, The Mint, The Fishtail Tavern, Townsend Marine, Watson Irrigation, Madison Propane, Townsend Electric, Sawdust & Threads, Town & Ranch True Value, Townsend Hardware, Broadwater Tack & Gifts, The Copy Cup, The Big Bull, Pepsi, Townsend Schools, Townsend Education Association, Bob's, Bert's Hardware, & Silos Bar & Grill!!!
A big thank you to the Broadwater Education Foundation from Mrs. Flynn and her students for purchasing books, movies, and an Escape Game license to augment their learning in British Literature, as they studied the Detective Fiction Genre. The students really enjoyed the unit, and particularly enjoyed And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, and Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. We appreciate all you do for our school!!
A big Bulldog shoutout to teacher, Joe Horne, for being nominated for and receiving the Northwestern Energy Bright Surprise award! Joe was nominated by a community member, and here is the nomination that was submitted...congratulations and thank you, Mr. Horne, and thank you to all of our staff for the extra hard work and energy they give everyday during these challenging times! "I would like to nominate Joseph Horne for this award. At Townsend Schools, he is the Townsend Schools business education teacher, & director. Recognizing him comes from the students I have interacted with; I ask students 2 questions upon my encounters with them. What did you learn today, and later I will ask, Which teacher do you resonate with the most? Frequent answers are technology classes, and as well, Coach Horne. Coach Horne also serves as the Assistant Football Coach for Townsend Schools, and he creates and catalyzes community spirit through that role. On the field his players want to work for him, in the classroom his players are conditioned to work for Coach Horne as well. That effort and spirit is contagious to their peers, and creates a much stronger classroom synergy as well. Not only outside of the classroom does Coach Horne mentor the Football Team, he also functions as advisor to the “Business Professionals of America Club” and the Yearbook. Away from school Joe is Father to 2 great Middle / High School Scholars and Athletes, that without a doubt are his greatest achievements. Joe and his wife Natalie, a St. Peter’s Hospital Nurse, are one of the few Carroll College Couples inducted into the Carroll Alumni Hall of Fame. After much contemplation I feel that Coach Joseph Horne is Broadwater High School’s most fitting candidate for a recognition opportunity such as this one.

ATTENTION BULLDOGS FOOTBALL FANS!! We are excited and proud to be hosting a 1st round playoff football game this Sat., Oct. 31st, at 1:00PM...well done, Dawgs!! Because this is the postseason, all games have to follow the same covid spectator rules for equity, no matter what county the game is hosted in or what format was followed at those locations during the regular season. MHSA also has specific covid directives that have to be followed. For the playoff games, there will be NO open seating/entry for the general public. There will also be no bands or student sections at any site. Spectator passes are limited to 6 per participating athlete, which will mostly likely be used by immediate family (parents & siblings) and very limited extended family (grandparents). All preapproved spectators will have a pass to present at the entrance gate and will be on a list that will be used for admission to any postseason games our Bulldogs are playing in, at any location. Again, we are incredibly lucky to have a post season at all, and we appreciate your cooperation during these strange times. We do have approval to broadcast the game/s on NFHS and on KDGZ Radio, so tune in and cheer on our Bulldogs!!
Here is the final bracket for the 5B District VB Tournament this week!! As everyone knows, things look incredibly different this year with Covid restrictions in play, and it has been a challenge to even get a tournament established. We were unable to get approval from any county health board to host the tournament at one location, so individual matches are being played Tues., Thurs., and Friday, hosted by the highest seeded teams. As the second place seed, BHS is hosting one of Thursday's matches @ 6:00PM. Because this is postseason tournament play, all matches have to follow the same spectator rules for equity, no matter what county the match is played in or what format was followed at those locations during the regular season. For this tournament, there will be no bands, cheerleaders, or student sections at any site. There will also be no open seating for the general public. Spectators are limited to 60/team and include immediate family (parents & siblings) and very limited extended family (grandparents). All approved spectators are on a list that will be used for admission to any matches our Bulldogs are playing in, at any location. Again, we are incredibly lucky to have a tournament at all, and many in the 5B District have worked tirelessly to make one happen for our VB athletes! We are hoping to have approval to broadcast our Thurs. match on NFHS and on KDGZ Radio. Thank you all again for your patience and understanding, and GO BULLDOGS!! Ps. Stay tuned for spectator information for our home football playoff game this Sat.!!

A followup to the call that was sent to parents/guardians last night: Townsend Schools has been impacted by a confirmed positive Covid-19 test in the high school. While this is not a reason to panic, it is a reason to be diligent in monitoring for changing health conditions with your students. The district has had practices in place to lower the risk, limit any potential contact, and allow for effective contact tracing. As we work with our County Health Department and health professionals, some parents may be contacted regarding potential close contact and additional health monitoring recommendations. After reviewing potential classes and students/staff affected, the list is very minimal. Townsend Schools is committed to promoting the health and safety of students, staff, and community. If you are contacted by the County Health Department regarding potential close contact, we urge you to follow the recommendations provided. We also urge all students, staff, and community members to continue the safety protocols that are already in place. If any other cases arise, we will continue to keep you informed. This includes, before, during, and after school. Thank you again for your continued patience and cooperation during this time.

We want to thank all of our Bulldog fans for your cooperation this weekend with all of the new rules we have to follow! You are the best, and we know you are in this with us...we all just want our athletes to play!!! 💙💙💙 #wecandothistogether #bulldogfansarethebest
Bulldog fans, with our first two home games happening this weekend, and the recent media posts, we just want to make sure everyone is clear on the current spectator policy. For football, at this time, all home fans are allowed at the field. Everyone MUST wear masks and social distance as much as possible. We are encouraging fans to spread out on both sides of the field, with the exception of the fenced off visitors’ section. Home fans need to enter at the East gate only. Volleyball is much more restricted because it’s inside, with masks and social distancing required. Immmediate family members (those living in the same household) have assigned sections on the home side of the gym. BHS students have a section on the visiting side, as well as a limited number of other family & community member seats. When we are full, we are full. We are hopeful that we will have our NFHS cameras soon and will be able to broadcast all of the home VB and FB games! Details for our home CC meet will be announced at a later date. One other thing to note is that other schools in our conference have to follow the directives of their county health boards with regard to visiting spectators. They are not making the final call, and it varries county to county. Please be patient and respectful of the decisions they have to make...it is largely out of their hands. We will do our best to let you know the spectator status of our away games, and please remember the most important thing is for our athletes to get to compete in their events, spectators or no...thank you and GO BULLDOGS!! 💙🏐🐾🏈🏃
Attention Bulldog Fans!! The bad news is our NFHS cameras to broadcast our home games have not yet arrived, but should be here soon! The good news is Bigfork has theirs and will be able to broadcast our first home football game this Friday! The link below is where you can subscribe. You can also still listen in on KDGZ radio...GO BULLDOGS!! 🐶💙🐾 https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/subscribe/retail

Attention Bulldog Fans! The annual Blue and White Scrimmage is scheduled for tomorrow (August 21st)- Volleyball @ 5:00PM & FB @ 6:00PM. Unfortunately, the football scrimmage has been cancelled, but an open practice will be held for spectators to enjoy. Things will look a little different for spectator attendance at our games and events this year. As of now, all spectators are required to wear masks at all events, both indoors and out, and social distancing must be practiced. For our indoor VB event tomorrow, immediate family can attend and sit together. Student fans will be accommodated next, and if spacing allows, other Townsend fans will be seated last. Once approved by the BCH Department, a final spectator policy will be posted. We cannot thank you enough for your cooperation during this difficult time, and in the end, we all want our athletes to be able to compete in their events...GO BULLDOGS!!!
